Claudia rappels down into the cave with the yellow barrels again, this time with a geiger counter. The barrels are radioactive, but not off the scale. All of a sudden, Gretchen the dog, who disappeared into the cave in 1953, runs out of the shadows, unchanged from 33 years ago. Claudia is happy to see her, but very confused.
Claudia Tiedemann and Tronte Nielsen walk through the forest, looking for Claudia's lost dog Gretchen. Claudia compliments Tronte on his hair and says all the girls in Winden will be after him. She asks him if he has a girlfriend; he shakes his head. She asks why he and his mother moved, and Tronte responds that Agnes just wanted a \"change.\" Claudia comments that Agnes is a beautiful and elegant woman.
Ulrich walks along the edge of the forest. Egon drives past him and stops his car. He tells Ulrich to stop, but he runs away from him. Egon chases after him. Ulrich heads toward the Winden Caves, but Egon manages to cut him off and lunges at him just as he nears the entrance. Ulrich recovers and continues toward the caves, but Egon shoots his gun in the air, telling Ulrich to stop and raise his hands. Egon asks him what he did to the boys at the construction site and Helge. Ulrich tells him they can't be there any longer as he changed all that: Helge is dead and won't be able to kill again. Egon tells him he is a maniac and puts a confused Ulrich in handcuffs, continuing to mutter that he changed it. Meanwhile, Helge wakes up in the bunker and gasps.
Claudia drives to the Doppler mansion to meet with Bernd, leaving Gretchen in the car. She questions Bernd about the incident the previous summer. He explains there was an incident in the volume control system. Connections were corroded, and hydrogen was set off, but the reports' statements differed from what happened. He affirms that only a tiny amount of radioactive material leaked, the floors were changed, and everything was stored safely. Only a few people know about it; all were handsomely rewarded for keeping their mouths shut. He tells her not to make a big deal of it. Claudia asks if anything more happened. Bernd tells her there are no absolute truths, just stories, and she must decide what story she wants to tell.
In the decorated torture room of the bunker, Noah and Helge are working on the chair. Helge asks him why it doesn't work, to which Noah responds that it will: he must be patient. Helge protests that he doesn't want to continue doing this. He asks why God would want to do this. Noah tells him people who have suffered cling to hope, but there is neither a God nor a plan; the world is full of pain and chaos. He hugs Helge. Noah tells him that the world is doomed to be destroyed, but the chair is their ark, and he is Noah. They can change everything and remove the world of all evil and pain. They can create a time machine that will reorder the world.
In his clockmaker's shop, the younger H.G. Tannhaus is dismantling and tinkering with the components of Ulrich's smartphone. The elderly Claudia enters and shows him the blueprints of the portable time machine that will change the course of time. She asks him to build it.
In the meantime, Jack helps Julie's personal escort, Constable O'Reilly, get settled into his quarters. Constable O'Reilly, a man of high rank and experience, has spent the last 15 years chasing outlaws on the frontier. Curiosity piqued, Jack asks O'Reilly why a man of such stature would bother with a simple escort assignment. O'Reilly explains that having recently gotten married and now expecting his first child, his priorities have changed and he's decided to settle down. What Jack hadn't expected is that his months old request for a transfer has been accepted and O'Reilly is in Coal Valley to replace him. Jack is now confronted with the difficult decision of following his dreams or following his heart. And while a future with Elizabeth seems within his grasp, a refusal of his transfer could mean the end of his career as a Mountie.

Spooked by the spectral encounter, Jeff attempts to get rid of the gun once and for all. But first, he wants to shoot it once to get rid of the Jeff bullet. The second he fires it, everything changes. Suddenly Jeff finds himself fascinated by the blue scorpion and the gun seems as endeared to him as an inanimate object can be.
Back at the deposition, Renée is able to use this info to get Boggs and Kristen to testify that Caroline's ill health could have easily been due to the antipsychotics she was prescribed. Renée is also able to say the phrase, \"sounding a little bitter there, Miss Lemonhead,\" which is a blessing for all of us. The deposition devolves until Lemonhead calls Renée out for probably having a relationship with David, because Lemonhead is both a stellar prosecutor and a human sexual tension detector. Eventually, she shows up to inform the church that Caroline has changed her tune and just wants her medical bills covered. Those bishops and priests are like, yes, this is super cool, we can do that. Anyway, justice for Lemonhead someday!
Kipo despairs and sits down. Hesitantly, Jamack offers to listen to her which Kipo jumps on immediately. Kipo rants about her body changes before ending forlornly on how the worst part was that her best friend hates her. Surprisingly, Jamack sits beside her and offers the idea that perhaps Wolf is just scared of change. Projecting a little of his own experience and cheers Kipo up.
As they're running, Wolf stops to apologizes to Kipo. She admits she's still scared. Scared that Kipo will hurt her. But, Wolf's tired of running. Kipo reassures Wolf that no matter what's happening outside, who she is inside isn't going to change; that they're sisters no matter what. Wolf initiates a hug for the first time, which Kipo warmly reciprocates.
When The Last Of Us released back in 2013, it was widely hailed as one of the greatest video games of all time. This was in no small part thanks to its powerful, controversial ending. The HBO adaptation makes small changes to the final moments of this story, but largely hews closely to the game.
Kim suggests Jimmy take Howard's offer, which will enable him to start his own firm. After rejecting Kim's advice, Jimmy realizes Chuck used his phone the night before. The next day, Jimmy informs Chuck that he will accept Howard's deal, having deduced that Chuck was using Howard to keep Jimmy out of HHM. Jimmy demands to know why Chuck has treated him so badly. Chuck says he does not consider Jimmy a real lawyer. He says he was proud when Jimmy stopped running cons and worked in the HHM mailroom, but Jimmy should not be an attorney because he has not changed his dishonest ways. Feeling betrayed, Jimmy cuts his ties with Chuck.
That night, Kim visits Jimmy at the nail salon and urges him to take Howard's deal. Livid, he accuses her of being bought off by Howard. Near tears, she reiterates that taking the deal is the best thing for Jimmy but leaves without going into more detail. Bothered by their exchange, Jimmy retreats to his office and finally plugs his dead cell phone into the wall. As it begins to recharge, Jimmy ruminates - something about the phone's dead battery has gotten under his skin.
Jimmy accuses Chuck of telling Howard not to let him work on the case, and to not hire him after he passed the bar years prior. He demands to know why Chuck has been working against him. Chuck angrily replies that Jimmy is not a real lawyer, having taken shortcuts like online courses and diploma mills to start his legal career, while Chuck himself has worked hard his whole life. He believes that his brother hasn't changed from his \"Slippin' Jimmy\" ways, and that Jimmy poses a danger if he practices law. Realizing what his brother really thinks of him, Jimmy explains that he's brought over enough supplies to last Chuck a few days - after that, Chuck will have to fend for himself. Heartbroken, Jimmy walks out of the house without turning back.
Okabe grows concerned over the drastic changes his experimentation is causing, and the IBN 5100 disappears from the lab. The only hope for finding a replacement rests upon the delicate shoulders of Faris the cat girl.
Rintaro discusses their discovery of D-Mails with Daru inside May Queen Nyan-nyan, but Daru points out that they were unable to change Daru's luck in his match with Faris, to which Rintaro responds by blaming Daru himself for his loss. Despite the issues found in the system, Rintaro claims that a time machine is just a few fixes away.
He soon explains this to Kurisu, who quickly assumed that the D-mail they last sent caused him to lose track of the IBN 5100. Rintaro is in disbelief, pointing out that their experiment only dwelled on minor events. Kurisu then explains that the Butterfly Effect was the explanation for such major changes, and one of the well-recognized risks in changing the past.
